Tiger not Mathematically Eliminated from FedEx Cup

June 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

With two thirds of the FedEx Cup series over, Tiger was forced to end his season early because of a knee problem. This being the case, he has not withdrawn his name from the running for the FedEx Cup.

“I told my fans that I would be in it to the end, and I am not going to Quit.”

The FedEx Cup was first awarded in 2007 and was created as a way to build drama throughout a year’s schedule. Points are awarded for each event participated and lead up to a playoff. Currently Tiger Woods has about 22 thousand points. Last year Woods won with 123,000 points.

“The Florida fan base is not looking to be disenfranchised by Tiger’s withdraw,” said Tim Schultz of the Florida Golf Party. “We are really looking for the super-fans to come through at the end of the season.”

Some naysayers purport that Woods is just posturing a 2009 victory. Regardless, he easily claims the popular vote.
